Hand-knotted Tabriz rug in the Lachak-Toranj design with a pomegranate red field and a black border. The pile is kurk wool and silk on a silk foundation, at 60 raj. The design is a classic composition of a central medallion and four corner pieces. Tabriz is among Iran's oldest weaving centres, known for refined drawing and precise knotting.
