Hand-knotted Tabriz rug in the Mahi (Herati) design with a cream field. The pile is kurk wool and silk on a cotton foundation, at 50 raj. The design is a fine repeating pattern of flowers and curved leaves. Tabriz is among Iran's oldest weaving centres, known for refined drawing and precise knotting.
